Southern Nash High

Good morning, Firebird Families:

Out of an abundance of caution, Southern Nash High has initiated a Secure Action after receiving information that required us to take safety precautions. Southern Nash High has been notified of a potential school threat through our anonymous reporting system, Say Something. As a precaution, we have placed the school in Secure. This means that the school day is continuing as normal inside the building while exterior doors remain locked and no one enters or exits temporarily.

There is no direct threat inside the school, and students and staff are safe. The Secure Action simply allows learning to continue with an added layer of security while the situation is reviewed. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners and the NCPS safety team and will keep you updated as more information becomes available. Additional law enforcement will be present at Southern Nash High.

Watch for updates here through this messaging. Nash County Sheriff Deputies are also on campus and monitoring our current situation, and working with our administrators and the Say Something reporting system.

What is the Secure Action? *

* The Secure Action is called when there is a threat or hazard outside of the school building. Secure uses the security of the physical facility to act as protection. During Secure, all students and staff are brought into the secure building and all exterior doors are locked. Classes are able to continue uninterrupted inside the building.*

Sincerely,

Dr. Hugh Scott, Principal,
