Graduation Honor Cords

GRADUATION HONOR CORD INFORMATION

 

Latin Honor System Medals:
Summa cum laude – GPA of a 4.250 or higher (weighted)

Magna cum laude – GPA of a 4.000-4.249 (weighted)

Cum laude – GPA of a 3.750-3.999 (weighted)

 

Gold Honor Cord: Must have a 3.25 GPA at the end of Senior year.

Certified Nursing Assistant Cord: Pass the written and skills portion of the Certified Nursing Assistant exam.

CTE Pathway Cord: Must take all courses and be a completer in a CTE Pathway. Must have a 90 or above average in the pathway. 

FFA Honor Cords: Must have earned the State FFA Degree. Members must have been active for 24 months in the FFA, earned and invested $1,000 or worked 300 unpaid hours outside of class, served as a leader in the local FFA chapter, participate in at least five FFA activities above the chapter level, and have earned the Chapter degree.   

NAHS (National Art Honor Society): Students must complete all four levels of Art, making an A in each course and a combined 95 average with an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher.  Membership in school NAHS is required along with character, service hours, and participation as outlined in club by-laws.

NC Scholars Cord: Students are required to take an extremely rigorous course of study as prescribed by the State of NC and maintain an unweighted grade point average of 3.5 for all 4 years of high school.

ROTC Cord: A senior who has completed a minimum of three ROTC courses with an overall 90% or better average in all of their ROTC coursework, served their community and upholds our core values.

Serv Safe Certified Honor Cord: Students in Foods II or Culinary Arts I can earn the light blue honor cord by passing the Serv Safe Exam and becoming Serv Safe Certified. 

Tri-M Honor Cords: Seniors who participate in Tri-M during their senior year.  Students must take at least 1 music class, have a B average in their music class, and have a C average in all other classes.
